Hair Talk: Pre-Poo
When I first started my blog, I mentioned that a healthy lifestyle is not only about food and exercise, but that it also involves being kind to our skin and hair.
First Impressions – Girl and Hair Under Hair Care Range
There are many great benefits to protective styling, such as less manipulation – meaning we touch our hair less. Tucking our ends promotes hair growth because constant styling, detangling and combing requires excessive pulling of our hair, which will result in unnecessary breakage. Hairstyles such as braids, weaves, wigs and cornrows are amongst many to… Continue reading First Impressions – Girl and Hair Under Hair Care Range
WATERMELON
What it is: Watermelon is a flowering plant that is vine-like and whose “fruits” are not fruits or vegetables but berries. Another interesting theory I came across was that watermelons are believed to have first been discovered here in South Africa!
TashB
I believe that Pilates is underrated and often misunderstood. I know many people prefer high intensity training such as heavy weights, high inclines and fast speed. However, Pilates’ main focus is on core strength more about connecting the mind to the body, it will help you get stronger, more sculpted muscles and improve flexibility. I… Continue reading TashB
Healthy Banana and Chocolate Muffins
I don’t have a major sweet tooth problem, however often when I’m eating clean or trying to be very healthy then I always crave something sweet, around mid-afternoon or in the evenings after dinner. Even though I try to eat healthily, I like to have something small that will help curb the sweets cravings, so I’m always trying out healthy alternatives.
Sheba Feminine Hygiene
One of my goals for 2017 was to try to be more environmentally conscious, this meant trying to use fewer chemicals, minimizing the use of plastic and ensuring that I use biodegradable products. Choosing this approach can be overwhelming for all of us, but like I always say in my blog posts – “it’s about progress and perfection”. I was very excited when my cousin introduced me to Sheba Feminine Hygiene products, as they support this philosophy. I was even more excited to know they are locally produced by a young black entrepreneur.
Dry Brushing
September means it’s officially spring here in the Southern hemisphere, so most of us will be spring cleaning our homes, detoxing and exercising a little more. Even though they say summer bodies are made in winter, it’s not summer yet so we still have a chance to get ready. I decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to chat to you guys about what has been the best part of my evening beauty routine for the past few years – dry brushing. I try to dry brush for about five to ten minutes every evening and although there are many great benefits to dry brushing, I would like to focus on just four benefits that really got me into it.
My Natural Hair Journey
I recently had the opportunity of collaborating with a talented Durban based photographer Tauhirah Raffie. It was such a pleasure to work with her and I appreciate how patient she was with me, since we all know – I’m no model. She exceeded my expectations and did an exceptional job of bringing my vision into… Continue reading My Natural Hair Journey
Mihlali Ndamase
When I first got into blogging, I never imagined that I would end up meeting so many great people. Mihlali was one of the first ladies I managed to connect with on a personal level. I randomly came across her YouTube channel while watching some of my favorite local beauty/makeup videos. I followed her channel and social media and then ended up booking her to do my makeup. She is as funny, humble and genuine as she appears on her channel and is also obsessed with fitness and taking care of her health (something we both have in common).
